Paksong is located in Southern Laos at the Bolaven Plateau in the Champasak province.
1 hour from Pakse, 3 hours from 'Si Pan Don' (4.000 islands) and 4 hours from Ubon Ratchatani (Thailand)
Bolaven Plateau Paksong Travel Info
The road from Pakse to Paksong is good and very easy to navigate, with a lot of nice sceneries, waterfalls, coffee-trees and at the endpoint very fresh roasted coffee.
Start in the Lankham area and follow road 13, thats the road in the direction of the roundabout and the big market.
This road you have to follow for 50 kms. Near km 8 the name from the road change into road 16. (road 13 goes from there a 120 km to the 4.000 islands.)
At km 16 and at km 21 are nice spots for a break and where you can buy some fresh fruit. (breakfast?)
Between km 21 to km 38 you will climb very smoothly a 1000 meter.
At km 38 until km 42 are some very nice waterfalls.
After and during rainfall in the Rainy Seison the dirt roads can be very bad.!
The Tat Fane Waterfall is at km 38 on your right hand. This waterfall has a fall from 120 meter. On your left hand is a less extreme one, but its one with 4 streams next to eachother, you can float or swim in the water or have your picnic under the waterfall.
At km 50, at an altitude of 1300 masl, there is Paksong, in the coffee harvest seizon you can see the red coffee berries drying in the sun.
You have to drive 400 meters more on road 16 and you can drink fresh roasted coffee on your right hand. This is also the place where you can buy your italian roasted organic coffee beans directly from a Bolaven family or have a coffee workshop from 8am to 4pm. ( see Map Paksong )

The latest VIP bus in Pakong arrives at 5.30 AM the next morning in Vientiane.
There are 2 different busses to Paksong, the small local bus and the normal local bus. ( See transportation *)
The trip from Pakse to Paksong is between 1 and 2 hours, it cost you 25.000 kip or less.
Also by bus the scenery is one of a 1001 nights, you'lll see on your left and right hand side diffent "ban-nok's", minorities, restaurants and waterfalls.
When you planned to follow the coffee workshop or the Paksong Coffee Tour you can ask the driver to stop at "Mr Coffee" whats 400 meters out of the "center" in the direction of Attapeu.
